A former Ellon Academy pupil is among Robert Gordon University’s most talented athletes eyeing success across a range of sports this year.
Hannah Stewart, 18, is in a group of 20 students who have received RGU Sport Scholarships which will help them develop their talents and succeed in their chosen sporting field while undertaking academic study.
The annual programme includes tailor-made training, financial assistance and lifestyle management for the most promising athletes at university.
Collectively the RGU Sport Scholars compete in a number of sports, including: archery, curling, cricket, football, rugby, table tennis and target shooting.
Hannah, a first year Applied Sport and Exercise Science student, is also a talented footballer who has represented Scotland at U18 and U19 level.
She played for her first team aged eight and is now a starting centre forward for her club side Aberdeen Ladies FC and also RGU’s ladies football team.
Hannah said: “It’s a huge honour to be an RGU Sport Scholar and I’m privileged to receive such a high level of training and support from the team. The resources available will definitely help me improve my game while also continuing my studies.”
