Bains Coaches have two of the latest Tesla electric cars.

Bains Coaches of Oldmeldrum had first seen the vehicles at a fleet presentation in Aberdeen and were very impressed with the operating statistics.

Roll on a few months and Bains has now taken ownership of two new model X cars.

Wilma Bain said: They are both fully electric cars, neither have engines or gearboxes onboard and as such they are extremely environmentally-friendly. They can be charged up in around 45 minutes using a special Tesla super-charger, but they can be charged up overnight on a home charger; our nearest super-charger is, unfortunately, in Edinburgh!

“We are, however, looking into installing a charging-facility at our premises in Oldmeldrum, which we would then make available for public use.”

The model X car was the first SUV to receive a 5-star US NCAP safety rating. With all-wheel drive and a range of 351 miles on a single charge, the car has ample space for five adults and all of their gear, managing an incredible 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds.
