A man has braved the shave for Macmillan Nurses – and raised more than £1,000.

Ian Moir, of Drumwhindle, had his head and beard shaved by hairdressers Angie Birnie and Jill Grant on September 29 at the Ellon British Legion.

Thanks to a number of generous donations on the night, Ian raised a total of £1,400.

He said: “It was an excellent night, everyone had a great time and it was a great laugh.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone that came along on the night and gave a donation.”

Ian decided to host his own ‘Brave the Shave’ event as a way to give something back to the Macmillan Nurses as they had been a huge help to his wife, Linda. Donations can still be made online by visiting www.bravetheshave.org.uk and search for Gordon Moir.

Gordon can also collect donations in person, just call 01358 761229.

Macmillan Nurses help to support people with cancer, their families and can assist with both practical and emotional support.
