Improvements for Ellon Park and Ride
Work has started to clear the Ellon Park and Ride site to enable the final phase of improvements to begin.
Trees and vegetation have been cleared around the site in preparation for the work.
Phase 2 of the project will see work carried out on the bus turning area.
Three bus stops will also be installed, each will have enclosed shelters which will be lit and feature real-time displays to give passengers accurate and up-to-date bus times.
A spokesperson for Aberdeenshire Council said: “We can confirm that land clearance in preparation for phase 2 of the Ellon Park and Ride improvements has commenced.
“Once the land is clear, we will be able to carry out further survey works to aid in the completion of the build specification.
“Once we are clear on the work that is required we will be able to put a definitive timetable in place.”
Ellon and District councillor Gillian Owen has welcomed the work and looks forward to the improvements.
She said: “I have kept a watching brief on this issue and I’m delighted that action to start this crucial development is now going ahead.
“The problems over land ownership have been a nightmare and solutions need to be found so that this type of issue never happens again.
“These long-awaited improvements will be of great value to residents making it more user-friendly, better traffic management and real-time travel information.”
