Ellon Community Policing Inspector Nick Thom met the Ythan Crafters for Mental Wellbeing group last week at Ellon Library.
The Ythan Crafters for Mental Wellbeing group is a peer support group for people who suffer from mental ill-health or feel isolated in the community.
It is assisted and supported by Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action and aims to help others suffering from mental ill-health.
The group caters for both men and women and they meet in Ellon Library every Tuesday from 12pm until 2pm.
Inspector Thom said: “This group is an incredibly important meeting place for people in our community who are suffering from mental ill-health.
“ They are an extremely talented group and I have been really impressed by their art, knitting, crochet and jewellery making skills.
“They have mounted photographs which are really excellent and several of the group make various birthday and greetings cards as well.
“I expect to see this group growing in size and in reputation for making excellent products, but more importantly for a meeting place, an informal and very friendly support group for people who suffer from mental health issues.”
Inspector Thom added: “I have dropped a few hints about my upcoming birthday and my favourite colour, so I am hoping that I get a pair of socks, but we will see!”
