Inverurie West Church’s Acorn Centre has issued small grants totalling £3,150 to six local organisations.
The Acorn Centre Management Committee combined their annual “thank you” event for staff and volunteers with the cheque presentation to the organisations. The funds available for distribution arise from the gratuities received from customers using the hospitality area in the Centre.
Chairperson Eleanor Mitchell gave thanks to all the staff and volunteers and said: “We are delighted to once again welcome the many volunteers who along with the staff give an excellent service to customers which is clearly reflected in the amount of gratuities the Acorn Centre receives.
“Laura Gray has agreed to take over as chair and I’d like to thank all those who have been involved in the running of the Acorn Centre since inception.”
Neil Baillie of Inverurie Events added: “Having received a grant previously we were doubly delighted to be one of the organisations benefiting from the sterling work of the Acorn Centre which, like Inverurie Events, is dependent on volunteers within the community, to serve the community”
The organisations sharing the grants were: Inverurie Events; Inverurie & District Mens Shed; Keithhall Claikers; Marie Curie - Garioch Fundraising Group; Grampian Disability Sport and Inverurie and District Talking Newspaper.
