Aberdeenshire East MSP Gillian Martin has chosen a trio of winning Christmas card designs made by North-East pupils.

Ms Martin had called on children from primary schools in the constituency to put pen to paper and come up with a number of creations which could be sent out from her office.

The delighted pupils who came up with the winning creations were presented with gifts on a visit to their schools recently.

The overall winner of the Christmas card competition was P7 pupil Emma from Pitmedden School.

There were also two runner up prizes awarded.

These two awards were presented to Newburgh Mathers pupil Adam in P6 and Donald, also P6, from Pitfour School in Mintlaw.

Commenting on the competition, Gillian Martin MSP said: “We had so many fantastic designs sent in for our annual Christmas card competition and I would like to thank all the children who took the time to come up with a creation.

“The winning design by Emma really stood out and immediately caught my eye.

“Both creations by Donald and Adam were very imaginative too and I was delighted to pop along to the schools and present all three with a prize to say thank you.”

Ms Martin added: “I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year on behalf of my office.”
