President Mrs Jean Robertson welcomed members and guests to Newburgh WRI’s April business meeting, giving a particular welcome to Caroline Sneddon from Marie Curie, who had been invited along to collect a cheque for £800 raised from the proceeds of the recent successful WRI concert.
Secretary Mrs Margaret Singer read the report for the year 2014–2015. Members of Esslemont Institute entertained with a varied programme as votes for the new committee were counted.
Annual awards were presented: Fullerton Cup for Most Points, Mrs Margaret Chandler; Milford House Cup to runner-up Mrs Margaret Singer; Annie Middler Cup for Baking, Mrs Pearl Elrick/Mrs Isobel Shewan (joint). Walker Cup for Bulbs, Mrs Margaret Chandler; Millennium Quaich for Crafts, Mrs Margaret Chandler; Jubilee Jam Pot for Preserves, Mrs Margaret Chandler; Jubilee Cup for Little Treasures, Mrs Rose Moroney. All were congratulated on their achievements.

Following a delicious tea, competition winners were announced: 4 Months Syllabus 1 Mrs S Shackleton; 2 Mrs E Wood; 3 Mrs M Singer. Small Steamed Pudding 1 Mrs M Singer; 2 Mrs K Duncan; 3 Mrs M Thomas.
Mrs Robertson gave a vote of thanks. The next meeting will be on May 5 at 7.30pm in the Public Hall, Newburgh.
