An Inverness man is seeking information about a leading Scottish climber with Ellon connections.

Mike Dixon wants to hear from anyone in Ellon, where mountaineer Tom Patey attended the local academy,

He is carrying out research on Patey, who died in 1970 aged 38, and whose father was minister at St Mary-on-the-Rock Church in the town.

At the time of his death he was working as a GP in Ullapool.

Patey was a talented climber, writer and musician.

As a boy he went hill walking with the local scouts.

Anyone in Ellon who went to primary, secondary school or the Scouts with Patey and would be willing to share their memories of him is urged to get in touch with Mr Dixon.

If you have any information or know someone who may be able to help contact Mr Dixon by calling on 01463 242323.

Alternatively, you can write to Mr Dixon at 3 Holm Dell Gardens, Inverness. IV2 4GT.

He would be willing to travel to meet people in Ellon.
