Ellon and District councillor Gillian Owen has welcomed the news that Aberdeenshire Council is looking to reduce the number of council offices in the town.
Following the recent announcement cllr Owen said: “I am delighted that the council has approved the decision which will open the town up for more shops, something most residents would like.
“The demolition of the old academy buildings are well underway and the council now has a one in a lifetime chance to look at building something of value to all the residents.
“Most are keen to see a new Health Centre but that is not within the gift of the council, although it is keen to work with partners, including NHS Grampian and I understand that negotiations are ongoing.
“We shall all watch with avid interest as that whole area is key to Ellon’s economic development.”
