Pupils at Slains Primary School visited New Slains Castle recently for a special writing lesson.

The children took part in a creative writing session led by their Author in Residence, Alex Nye.

The pupils visited the castle on Friday, November 1 as part of a celebration of the rich storytelling history of the area.

Children were delighted to dress up in fancy dress for Halloween while on their special visit.

The creative writing session was held within the rooms of the castle ruins.

Slains Primary School was one of ten schools in Scotland picked to have an Author in Residence with the Scottish Book Trust.

Award-winning author Alex Nye will work to engage and inspire pupils in 12 sessions that will run across the 2019-20 school year.
