Ellon councillor Gillian Owen is reminding residents to check their local grit bins in the run-up to winter.
Councillor Owen said: “With the first frost of the season hitting us recently, I wanted to remind all residents to check their yellow grit bins.
“I have checked a number of them and they seem fine, although some still seem to be getting used as general rubbish bins!
“Can I make a fresh appeal to residents with the onset of winter to not only check their grit bins are full, but that any rubbish is taken away.
“Could I also urge anyone out late at night to put their rubbish in a proper bin - not the grit bin.”
Councillor Owen added: “I thought it would be useful to let everyone know how to go about getting your local grit bin replenished.
“It’s as easy as making a phone call to 03456 08 12 05 or going online to https://www.aberdeenshire.gov/report/infrastructure/
“Meanwhile, if you would like to get a grit bin for your street, then please get in touch and we shall see what can be done,” she added.
