An Ellon teenager has received an award from the McConnell International Foundation.
Jo Falconer, 17, is the first person from Aberdeenshire to receive the accolade.
The McConnell Foundation established the Livingstone Volunteers Scheme to help support fundraising of youngsters who have the chance to volunteer in Africa.
Jo has been raising money to enable her to volunteer for a year with the Project Trust.
Her original destination of Malawi has been changed to Swaziland, where she is to work with orphaned children and girls who have suffered from abuse.
Jo attended the award ceremony in Glasgow recently, where she met descendants of David Livingstone and was presented with a grant from Lord Jack McConnnell.
