The Formartine Partnership and Aberdeenshire Ranger Service have organised a series of guided walks across Formartine.
The walks are designed for everyone from a quiet evening stroll to a day spent enjoying the best scenery and wildlife in the area.
On Tuesday, June 18 the first evening walk will take place at Newburgh, where guides will lead a group down to the Estuary to see the seal haul-out and more.
Further evening walks, lasting around an hour and a half, will be held at Den Wood near Oldmeldrum, Windyhills near Fyvie and along the old road from Pitmedden to Tolquhoun Castle.
Two all-day walks will be held at the Hagberry Pot below Gight Castle, and the other to Old Slains Castle.
All of the walks are free to join but booking is required and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
For a list of the walks available or to book a place find the Ranger Service page on www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk and click on the ‘Formartine Walking Festival flyer’ link.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about the local countryside throughout Formartine, get up close to the region’s wildlife, while at the same time helping you to get out and build your fitness.
