Aldi is launching a fresh recruiting drive in Aberdeenshire.

The discount chain is seeking more than staff for its stores in Inverurie and Ellon as part of major expansion plans.

Bosses recently announced plans to open a third store in Aberdeen and as a result are looking to fill posts at their stores throughout the area.

The hunt is on to hire experienced retailers for its store management roles.

In Inverurie there are vacancies for an assistant store manager, two deputy managers and 10 assistants, while in Ellon the vacancies are for a deputy store manager and three assistants.

Elsewhere, the company is looking for a deputy store manager, three assistant managers and four assistants in Aberdeen, and a deputy store manager and seven assistants at Westhill.

Candidates who possess retail or people management experience are being targeted for managerial positions, including assistant store manager and deputy store manager roles.

Deputy store manager roles start from 20 hours per week, with a starting salary of £9.15 per hour rising to £10.75 per hour, plus £3.95 extra per hour when managing the store.

Store Assistant roles are available from 15 to 30 hours a week with salaries starting at £8.15 per hour and realistic prospects for progression.

Richard Holloway, Aldi’s regional managing director, said: “Aberdeenshire is a key area of growth for us, and as a result of Aldi’s continued popularity with shoppers and a new store on the horizon, we are recruiting for a significant number of store positions.”

“We’re looking to attract applicants from a range of backgrounds and sectors including supermarket, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrate relevant experience in retail, and the skills required to succeed in a fast-paced environment.”

The store prides itself in high quality fresh produce locally sourced.

Aldi’s new Aberdeen store will open in the Cornhill area early next year.

The company is seeking applications straight away so that new staff can be trained in existing stores.

Aldi in Inverurie opened at Harlaw Road, in August last year, and 140 shoppers queued to get their hands on a lucky “Golden Ticket”. Initially Aldi recruited 15 staff in Inverurie with a target of 30 additional jobs straight away.
