MSP for Aberdeenshire East, Gillian Martin, has welcomed the announcement of a funding boost for The Windsurf Club.
The cash injection from Awards For All Scotland of £1,320 will allow the group to run windsurfing lessons and activities for people of all ages.
The Newburgh-based project, which was formed in 2012, will also be able to provide training for instructors and purchase new equipment to improve the quality of training so that they can increase their membership.
Awards For All Scotland gives groups a chance to apply for a grant of between £500 and £10,000 for projects that aim to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.
Funding is available to a range of projects which involve bringing local people together, helping people learn, improving local spaces and getting people more active.
Ms Martin said: “I am delighted that The Windsurf Club in Newburgh have been successful in securing crucial funding from Awards For All Scotland.
“We have a fabulous coastline in Eastern Aberdeenshire and it’s great that a community sports group that are making the most of it now have the means to grow and attract yet more members.”
