Around 130 Rotarians, guests and friends attended a High Tea event recently to celebrate the launch of the new Ythan Valley Rotary group.
The Charter celebration was held in Methlick on Sunday, October 27 and was hailed as a “huge success” by organisers.
Attendees came from as far afield as Moray in the north and Kirkcaldy in the south, with one Rotarian visitor making the trip from an e-club in South West USA.
District Governor Alistair McNair welcomed every member of Ythan Vally into Rotary individually and said: “This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and different style club, giving something back into the local community.”
Charter President Gary Macalister added: “As Ythan Valley will be a different type of Rotary organisation, its development will be very much driven by the membership who will work out in the coming months what Ythan Valley will look and feel like.
“As a consequence, it will be really interesting to be part of Ythan Valley’s evolution.”
Entertainment was provided by Ythan Valley member, Morag Simpson, Liam Dyker and Elspeth MacPherson.
Ythan Valley Rotary would like to thank all of the local businesses and organisations who very generously donated raffle prizes for the event.
Proceeds from the raffle will be used primarily to support local projects in the Rotary group area.
Assistant Governor Jim Hatter gave a warm vote of thanks, and the final toast of the event was given by Charter Secretary Jacqueline Hill.
