Rotary young musician contest

Calling all young musicians in Ellon and the surrounding area.

Ellon Rotary Club intend holding a Young Musician of the Year contest during the school summer term - and this year the competition will have a new look.

At this stage, the club are trying to gauge the level of interest for such an event.

In the past, anyone up to the age of seventeen could take part but the intention this time is to encourage a younger age group.

The club have therefore decided that the competition will be limited to pupils of the feeder primary schools for Ellon Academy.

There will be two classes - one for singers and the other for musical instrumentalists.

All participants will receive a certificate and a prize will be presented to the winner in each class.

All those who are interested should contact Rotarian Charlie Burgess by calling 01358 720683 or email

The young musician contest is one of seven competitions for young people organised by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.

The others are Young Chef, Young Photographer, Young Writer, Youth Speaks, Young Citizen Awards and the Technology Tournament.
