The second ‘A Night With’ event proved to be a big hit at the Tolbooth in Station Road .

Host Jack Nixon’s guest on Thursday, April 25 was David Barnes, one of the leading rugby writers in Scotland.

A near capacity audience heard David talk about the issues facing the sport, while expressing his pleasure about visiting the north east.

David, editor of the online magazine Theoffsideline. com said: “It’s great to be invited to Ellon, especially at a time when the area has been enjoying major success on the national scene. The promotion of Aberdeen Grammar to the Premiership has not gone unnoticed, as is the case at Aberdeenshire who have had a great run, including a trip to Murrayfield for a final, while Ellon have consolidated their position in the top Caley League.”

Among the guests was Archie Park, one of the founder members of the Ellon club, and a former president.

Archie said:”It was good to meet up with one of the big hitters of the rugby writing business. He talked a lot of sense about the game.”

The next ‘A Night With’ event will be held on Thursday, May 23 when Jack will be talking to Colin Grant, former Hibs player, and manager of Peterhead FC.

Tickets are £5 from the Tolbooth.
