Specsavers has set its sight on opening up a new store on Ellon’s Bridge Street.
The opticians chain has lodged plans for signage at the former Royal Bank of Scotland in the heart of the town.
Proposals submitted to Aberdeenshire Council by Specsavers’ agents Unick Consulting Ltd include fascia signage and a projecting sign bearing the firm’s logo.
The chain offers optician services for eyesight testing and sells glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses, as well as hearing aids.
The move comes following the decision by RBS last year to close its Ellon branch along with outlets in Banff, Dyce and Turriff.
The premises at 15 Bridge Street have served a number of roles over recent years, but is perhaps best remembered for housing the popular Temptations gift shop for many years.
