Pitmedden has once again triumphed at the annual ‘Formartine in Bloom’ Awards at Meldrum Acadamy last week.

The village beat off heavy competition from other villages in the region to take first prize in its category, for the fourth year running.

Judges praised Pitmedden for the level of community involvement, which included input from the local Primary School and other groups in the area.

Cllr Paul Johnston told the Times that the award came at the end of a year’s worth of hard work for organiser Bob Bamlett, and the village’s volunteers.

“There’s a huge amount going on in the area, not least concerning the community turbine,” said Cllr Johnston. “Each year the flower displays are more and more stunning - it proves that a lot of people doing a little bit each can make a huge difference to the local environment.

“Congratulations go to Bob and everyone else involved.”
