A new funding scheme has been launched to help Aberdeenshire’s communities celebrate the best of their local area.

The Our Place fund is part of the council’s Be Part of the Picture creative placemaking project which is working with local businesses and communities to promote the cream of what the area has to offer.

Community groups and organisations across the region can apply for up to £5,000 towards projects aimed at celebrating the best of their local area, which could include key local figures, an iconic landmark, the natural environment, local produce, heritage or language.

The Our Place fund offers direct support to local residents and organisations who want to celebrate the best of local culture and creativity and build a feeling of

community pride.

Director of Education, Learning and Leisure, Maria Walker, said: “Aberdeenshire is rich in cultural, historical and natural heritage and this is a fantastic opportunity for our communities to showcase the best of their local area.

“We want to support our communities to show their pride in Aberdeenshire and make the most of the local assets which make them unique.”
