Concerns voiced over Aikey Brae halting site

Buchan area councillors have debated proposals by Aberdeenshire Council to establish a halting site for travellers.

Councillors from all parties and local wards expressed reservations about the process being followed by the local authority.

Concerns were voiced about the proposal not being within an area marked for development in the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan, and that councillors were being asked to comment on the proposal before the views of local people had been gathered at a public meeting in Old Deer next month.

Consultation on the Aikey Brae site proposal will start at the meeting at Kemp Hall, Old Deer, on May 13 ,to which members of the local community and local community councils will be invited.
