A path in Ellon, shut after being deemed to be dangerous and in a poor condition, has reopened.
The link between the town’s between Bredero Drive and Auchmore Road was closed last year.
The move has been welcomed by local councillor Gillian Owen.
She said: “I am delighted that the works have finally been carried out and the path looks really good.
“I would like to thank the residents for their patience I know it has been a hassle having to go the long way round but the Council had to act in the interest of all.”
She added: “This path should have been adopted under Gordon District Council but this did not happen and it had gone undetected until a resident raised a concern back in June, 2012. Hence the path was closed.
“It is regrettable that this action had to be taken but the health and safety of the residents was key.”
The work carried out included spraying by landscape services to get rid of the moss and weeds growing out of the pavements, and the remedial work on the stairs.
