North East Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes has welcomed a pledge from Transport Scotland to resurface the A90 at Foveran.
Mrs McInnes has been campaigning for improvements to the busy route through the village.
Now she has been assured by Transport Scotland chief executive David Middleton that full resurfacing of the road will be carried out in 2014/15.
The North East MSP said: “I hope that the resurfacing work can be done as soon as possible. I have received complaints from constituents about the rough nature of the road. It is breaking up in places, and I am aware that a number of windscreens have been chipped.”
Mr Middleton also told Mrs McInnes that all roads are inspected weekly so that defects that require priority attention can be identified. He also encourages members of the public to report any specific defects or any other matters relating to the management and maintenance of the A90 roads by calling 0800 028 1414.
