Methlick’s SNP councillor Cryle Shand has handed over to SNP candidate for Turriff & District Alastair Forsyth to take the baton forward for the village in the next council.
Following boundary changes by the Local Government Boundary Commission, Methlick will now be in the Turriff & District Ward along with Fyvie, Rothienorman and Cuminestown.
Cllr Cryle Shand said: “It has been a pleasure representing Methlick as part of the Mid Formartine Ward and I am sorry to be losing it from the area I hope to continue to represent.
“I know that Alastair will be an assiduous local councillor for all the residents in Turriff & District Ward if he is successful and I wish him and the people of Methlick all the best going forward.”
SNP candidate Alastair Forsyth added: “Cryle and I spent some time going around the village talking to residents and businesses and I’m grateful to them for the reception I received and also for taking the time to talk with me.
“Being involved in the community in my own village, which is not dis-similar in the challenges it faces, I hope to be able to be of service to the people of Methlick if I am successful on May 4.”
