Ellon Rotary will hold two Tools for Self Reliance collections at Tesco Ellon this month.
The first collection will be held this Saturday (April 13) from 9am to 12 noon, and the second collection will be held on Saturday, April 20.
David Cowe of the Ellon Rotary International Committee is encouraging local residents to give their garden shed or garage a good spring clean and identify unwanted or unused tools or redundant tool kits or industrial tools which could be donated to the TFSR charity.
Any type of hand tool which can be used by a wide range of trades will be collected by Ellon Rotarians.
Rotarians will also accept power tools which will be sent to Colleges or Training Organisations as well as Singer Sewing machines which can be used to set up either individual or community group workshops to improve the local economy in rural areas.
Any tools in poor condition will be sent to the Camphill Rudolf Steiner Tools workshop where they will be cleaned, sharpened and repaired before being packed for dispatch by final year special needs students.
Tools are sent to Ghana, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda, and will get to those communities that can use them to benefit individual families or small workshops.
