Transport Scotland has agreed to undertake a safety assessment of a stretch of the A90, following an approach from a local councillor.
Ellon & District SNP Councillor Rob Merson wrote to transport chiefs following an approach by a local resident, concerned at poor lighting and junctions on the stretch of the road between Mundurno and Tipperty.
In addition to the lack of lighting, Cllr Merson raised concerns at the lack of slipways for emerging traffic. He also expressed worries that crossing the carriageway presented a considerable hazard for local residents.
“I very much welcome the Chief Executive of Transport Scotland’s prompt and encouraging response”, said Cllr Merson.
“He has advised me that the safety survey should be completed by March 2012, and any recommendations will be considered. I am therefore very hopeful that its findings will lead to improved lighting on this stretch of road, which has a very unhappy history.”
