Skin Deep spice it up for fun day
An Ellon music school added a bit of spice to its annual fun day.
Country band Old Spice were the star turn at Skin Deep School of Modern Music’s recent event in the Station Hotel.
And such was the response to the veteran group that Skin Deep is organising a special country night later in the year.
Jayne Brown, who runs the music school with husband Ian, a former member of Old Spice, said they had a superb turn-out for the fun day.
She told the Times: “There was a great variety of performances.
“Many of the younger pupils peformed on stage doing their rockschool pieces from debut grade to grade 5 and they were amazing.
“There were solo acts, duos and the Skin Deep inhouse band, who are tutors, also performed with their pupils, giving them the chance to play in a band.”
Jayne and Ian, orginally from Fraserburgh, have praised everyone who made the fun day such a success.
She said: “We would like to thank all the pupils who performed on the day, and their family and friends who supported them.
“Also the team who worked very hard back stage to make the event possible, and Dorothy and staff at the Station Hotel for always being so accommodating.”
Old Spice performed a number of songs recorded by The Highwaymen - Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson - which went down a storm with the audience.
Jayne and Ian, who moved to Ellon seven years ago, are now plannng a country music night at the Station Hotel in September.
Tickets will be available from Skin Deep from the end of July. Contact Jayne at 01358 725864, or 720006.
