A North-east man is set to tackle one of Europe’s most challenging climbs to raise funds for a proposed special residential care centre.
Experienced climber Keith Marr will travel next month to tackle Mont Blanc, at 15,781 ft the highest mountain in Europe, which is almost four times as high as Ben Nevis!
Keith has previously reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro for charity and says that the overwhelming generosity of his friends and colleagues in backing that challenge persuaded him to make another climb, this time in aid of “Charlie House”.
Charlie House are raising funds for a new residential centre in the North-east and Keith said that he was inspired by the care and support that the charity provides for children and young adults with life limiting conditions and specialist needs.
The new facility would be able to provide 24 hour care and support for children and their families, and allow them to experience a range of new activities.
Keith will be joined on the climb by his friend Gav, who also joined him tackling Kilimanjaro, and all expenses involved in the trip and the climb will be personally met by the intrepid duo, so 100 per cent of funds raised will go to the very worthwhile cause.
All those wishing to donate to the challenge can do so by visiting Keith’s ‘Just Giving’ page www.justgiving.com/Keithmarr-Montblanc.
