Hundreds of pounds was raised at a concert organised by the Tarves Flower Committee last weekend.
The Ythan Fiddlers and dancers took to the stage at the village’s Melvin Hall last Friday.
Committee Treasurer Norma Dougall said that around 50 people attended the event which helped to add a couple of hundred pounds which would be added to the coffers for next year’s flower show.
She told the Times: “I was in the kitchen most of the time preparing the goodies preparing the goodies but I saw the last five-ten minutes but from what I saw it was great - were really pleased with how it went.
“The fiddlers were brilliant - older people were even up doing the jig! It was really good.
“The main thing is that people in Tarves support everything from the flower show to Halloween to Guy Fawkes to a fantastic sledge at Christmas and collecting money for the carol singing.
“Everyone joined in and gets into the spirit.”
Visitors were treated to homemeade fruit loaf and shortbread during the fundraiser as well as they enjoyed the tunes and dancing.
Norma added: “We made up goodie bags for older people to take home as well - it is such a good feeling.
“We decided to hold the concert this month and may hold another one in the spring.
“We have a 20p entry fee for the flower shoe then 5p thereafter plus admissions, teas, the raffle and the trophy engraving to arrange.
“The money will be used for overhead expenses and to keep funds topped up.”
