Tributes have been paid following the death of a prominent Ellon businessman who was also a leading light in community matters, writes Jack Nixon.
David Munro, 65, died on April 30 and his funeral took place on Tuesday, May 12, at a private service at his own request, sadly denying many who knew him the opportunity to say farewell and thanks for the work he did in the town.
Mr Munro was keen to play an active part in all things community, serving on the local community council, being a leading figure in the Lions, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He had a number of business interests in and around Ellon until he suffered ill health a number of years ago
Mr Munro was an active member of the Royal British Legion and was frequently to be seen at his local hostelry where he was often heard to express his strong opinions, though he was also quick to acknowledge the views of others, and admit he was wrong when he was proved to be wrong.
He did not enjoy the best of health in recent months, and was generally confined to his room at Slater Court.
