The National Trust for Scotland’s Fyvie Castle has become the first of the conservation charity’s Aberdeenshire castles to secure a five star rating from Visit Scotland.
Trust Chairman Sir Moir Lockhead visited the castle on Wednesday, July 6 to congratulate the team.
Fyvie castle, which dates back 800 years, has been classified ‘exceptional’ after a recent audit from VisitScotland experts.
The news comes as the castle celebrates its 30th year as a visitor attraction.
Property Manager Robert Lovie said: “To be classed as exceptional is an amazing accolade for its rich heritage, our staff and volunteers. We hope it will encourage more people to visit and experience our warm welcome.”
