The second weekend of Ellon Art at Castle Gardens Exhibition was just as wet but it didn’t stop visitors from stopping by.

The exhibition was held in the Grand Marquee in the Ellon Castle Grounds as part of the North East Open Studios (NEOS) festival.

The rain continued to fall on Friday, September 15 but 35 hardy individuals managed to head along and enjoy the exhibits of arts and crafts on show from members of Ellon & District Art Group.

Saturday proved to be wetter still and the morning attendance was somewhat slow but steady in numbers, but the numbers began to swell in the early afternoon and over 80 people attended in total.

A couple of individuals were so interested that they intend to attend the next session of the Art Group with a view to joining.

Sunday, September 17, the last day of the NEOS Festival, was no better weather wise, and once again there was a slow but steady flow of 35 visitors throughout the day.

Overall over 250 visitors came out to see Ellon Art at Castle Gardens over the two weekends, a very satisfactory number considering the atrocious weather conditions.

EDAG wish to thank all those who braved the storms to see the Exhibition and a huge thank you to the local newspapers who covered the event and so helped to let people know the exhibition was on and there to be enjoyed.

Also Ellon Castle Garden Trust for providing the venue and their staff for so much help with the event on the day.

Thanks also to Ellon Bowling Club and Ellon Kirk Centre who both loaned tables for use at the weekends.

EDAG Artist members hope to see everyone once again next year.

Ellon and District Art Group meet weekly in the Kirk Centre, Ellon on Thursdays from 10.30am to 1.30pm .

Potential new members are welcome to come along or contact the Group Secretary on 01771 644763 for details.
