An online flight comparison company has unveiled the top to-dos that Britons have on their bucket list, outlining what they dream of doing while young, healthy and able.
According to the poll, owning a home, travelling the world and flying first class top the average Briton’s bucket list.
Furthermore 31% confessed that having a one night stand with a celebrity was on their dream list.
New research has revealed the bucket lists of Britons; with owning a home coming out top, followed by travelling the world and flying first class. More unusual dreams included 31% seeking out a one night stand with a celebrity, while just 28% wanted to get married.
The team at www.Jetcost.co.uk undertook the survey as part of an ongoing study into British attitudes towards the bucket list and the things they would love to do. 2,491 Britons aged 18 and over were quizzed about their travels, wishes and bucket list.
Initially, all respondents were asked ‘Have you ever written down your bucket list?’ to which more than a quarter of Britons (27%) stated they had. Of these, two thirds (4%) said that they felt putting pen to paper would make them more likely to commit to doing them, while one in five (19%) said they wanted to figure out how much it would cost to fulfil their list.
Wanting to delve a little deeper, all respondents were then asked what featured on their bucket list. When provided with a list of possible responses and told to select all that applied, the top five bucket list to-dos were revealed as follows:
1. Own my own home - 74%
2. Travel the world - 69%
3. Fly first class - 61%
4. Do a skydive – 58%
5. Conquer a fear - 53%
6. Have children – 49%
7. Get my dream body – 45%
8. Become a millionaire – 41%
9. Own a business – 38%
10. Write a book – 35%
Furthermore, 31% stated that they would like to have a ‘one night stand with a celebrity’. By comparison, just 28% identified ‘get married’ as a bucket list goal.
Those who stated that they want to travel the world were asked what areas of the world they’d most like to visit, to which ‘Asia’ (31%), ‘America’ (25%) and ‘Australasia’ (22%) came out as the most popular.
A spokesperson for Jetcost.co.uk commented: “The real benefit to having these dreams is putting them into action and making them a reality! It’s so important not to forget your childhood dreams, or even those you accrue as you get older, and it’s easy to get sucked into the rat race and leave little time for yourself and your goals. By writing down your bucket list, you can start working to get those ticks next to the list; whether that’s booking a skydive, venturing off on some travels or saving up for that luxury flight!”
