Youth music festival at Aden Country Park

A host of talented acts will be performing at the inaugural Aden Youth Music Festival this Saturday.

It is the park’s first dedicated youth music event and will run from 11am to 5pm.

The free festival has been designed to provide an opportunity to showcase a range of local musicians and bands from across Aberdenshire.

There is a great line-up including experienced bands and musicians like Raw Stereo, Ian Burnett, Chaser, Patrick Shand, Emma Hogarth, and Organised Chaos, as well as a range of other up-and-coming local musicians looking forward to the experience of playing in front of a friendly local crowd.

Featured Peterhead band, Raw Stereo, should prove to be a real smash hit with the local crowds.

The band started out being a great cover band but more recently now write their own music, which has a punk rock sound.

Success came in 2011 when the band made it to the final of ‘Live and Unsigned’ national competition which took place in the O2 Arena in London.

The band also performed live for crowds as part of the Blue Toon Rox event, supporting chart-toppers ‘The Saturdays’.

Singer and guitarist Chloe Rigg, bassist Kimberley Kaminski, drummer Craig Porter and guitarist Shera Proctor met at Peterhead Rock School and hope their success can promote, encourage, and inspire, other aspiring musicians in the North-east.

Neil Shirran, Aden Development Worker, said: “Aden Country Park is delighted to act as the venue for the first Aden Youth Music Festival.

“There has been a lot of interest around the event and we’re working well with all the event partners to provide this one-off opportunity, for local musicians to perform to a large audience, in the unique setting of Aden Country Park.”

Buchan Community Radio (BCR) will also be covering this year’s event so if you can’t manage to attend the on day, or if you want to listen second time round, tune in to BCR, who will be playing highlights from the event on their radio station.

The Aden Youth Music Festival event partners include Aden Country Park, Buchan Development Partnership, The Foyer, the Friends of Aden Country Park, Buchan Community Radio, and the Aberdeenshire Council North Community Learning & Development Team.
