The Ythan Singers will perform their Christmas Concert at Ellon Parish Church this weekend.
The concert will start at 2.30pm on Sunday, December 9, and will feature many Christmas favourites including ‘The Huron Carol’, ‘In the Bleak Mid-winter’, the ‘Nativity Carol’ and ‘Stille Nacht’.
It will also include some new songs to their repertoire; ‘Lo How a Rose E’er Blooming’ and ‘The Twelve Days After Christmas’.
The audience will be able to join in with well-known carols.
The concert will be conducted by Morag Simpson and accompanied by Rosemary Lund.
All are very welcome and it is certainly a concert not to be missed.
There will be a collection on the door for the charity “toilet twinning” (www.toilettwinning.org) which is a water and sanitation initiative.
Last year’s concert raised £345 for this charity but the Church would now like to see all their toilets twinned.
A spokesperson for the choir said: “It is shocking in the 21st century that there are many people in the world who do not have access to clean water and adequate sanitation, which should be a fundamental human right, and therefore we are delighted to support this initiative again through proceeds from our concert.”
After the concert everyone is welcome to join the singers for tea, coffee, mince pies and shortbread.
