Maud left The Meadows with full points following their 1-0 league win against Ellon United on Saturday.
The only goal of the game was a disaster for the home side with Maud taking full advantage of a horrible defensive mistake but in truth the visitors always looked the livelier and the more likely to score.
United were again forced into defensive changes with Jonathon Millsom reverting to the centre of the defence alongside Steven Reid in the absence of the long-term absentees and with Paul Leahy unavailable. Calum Annand returned from his injury spell to take over on the right of the back four.
A fine block from Blair Johnston prevented Maud getting an early shot away with United’s response seeing Ryan Stewart shoot over.
The visitors were forced into an early change with Duguid replacing Fraser who pulled up with a hamstring problem. A minute later a dangerous low ball across the Ellon goal area fortunately failed to find an attacker in position to get a touch.
Maud kept up the pressure with Tony Buckley turning a shot from Chalmers away for a corner then United lost possession and were almost made to pay a high price when the final cross went behind off the top of the goal.
United’s best move of the first half saw Grant Thomson release Ryan Stewart on the right and his dangerous low cross was well cut out by a Maud defender preventing the ball reaching Jordan Morrice with the goal at his mercy and allowing keeper Barbour to clear.
Shots from J.Robertson and Chalmers were well off target before the last real action of the first half saw a fine run by Thomson halted at the expense of a corner.
The second period opened as a continuation of the first with Maud forcing the pace and quicker to the ball in vital areas with United too often guilty of failing to keep possession.
It took a fine save from Buckley to deny the visitors in the 54th minute before disaster struck ten minutes later. The home defence were left totally embarrassed when a simple long ball bounced over the heads of the square defenders and allowed Duguid to run clean through on his own with all the time in the world to chip the ball home over the stranded Buckley.
United made their first chance with Fraser Tait replacing Chris Craib in midfield then in the 77th minute they made a double substitution with Neil Erskine replacing Morrice and Kwiatkowski coming on for Stewart.
Four minutes later United came the closest they managed to get to an equaliser when Barbour managed to hold on to an awkward shot from Thomson under pressure from Tremaine.
