Colony Locos were on league duty as they hosted Peterhead BC at Garioch Sports Centre, in a repeat of this early season fixture where Locos dumped the ‘Blue Toon’ out of the Scottish Cup.
Colony started the brighter and took the lead through Andreas MITCHELL’s cool finish inside the box after just 6 minutes. It didn’t take long for Colony to double their lead, Phil WOODGREAVES despatching low past the goalkeeper following a great move by Locos.
Peterhead kept composure and worked their way back in to the game, with Cammy Garden making a number of good saves to preserve the home side’s clean sheet. However, Peterhead managed to pull a goal back just minutes before half time.
Right on the stroke of half time, Colony won a free kick around 40 yards from the opposing goal. After some debate as who would take the free kick, Paul GEE unleashed a rocketing strike which evaded the defensive wall and left the visiting goalkeeper with no chance, sailing high in to the top corner of the net - a stunning finish and a 3-1 lead.
The second half saw Peterhead dominate for spells although Colony had several chances to extend their lead, but credit must be given to Cammy Garden who pulled off some wonderful saves to retain Colony’s two goal lead.
The Inverurie side managed to close out the second half and held out for another important three points which sees them retain their position at the top of the table
