A FROZEN pitch at Denmore meant that Ellon United’s scheduled fixture away to Hall Russell United was one of the many Junior matches which fell by the wayside last Saturday with only Lewis United’s game against Maud at The Aberdeen Sports Village managing to beat the weather.

Hopefully the conditions will be better this week with United due to play Dyce in a league match at The Meadows, kick-off 2pm.

The winning numbers in United’s weekly Lucky Six Draw were 5 7, 9, 11, 12 and 17 and with no one picking the full set, the jackpot for next weeks draw which will be £1150 with the selection 6 from 17. The winners of the £10 consolation prizes were I.Duncan and I.Ironside.

Ellon United are hoping to commence play this Saturday (January 15). After the horrible winter weather, co-manager Scot Clark said: “We’ve managed a couple of training sessions indoors but things haven’t been good at all with respect to the weather.

“The only good thing is there are a few guys coming back from injuries now – the break has given them a chance to get fit again.

“Keith Reid, Scott McIntosh, and Duncan Chalmers all had knee injuries while club captain, Chris Allsop had a problem with his immune system, but happily he’s back training again.

“Morale has been good – there has been a good team spirit throughout the winter because the team has managed to keep training and it’s enabled them to have a good laugh with one another.
