Formartine United have completed the double signing of Derek Young and Scott Ferries in time for Saturday’s Highland League kick off.
United will travel to Keith in the first game of the new season as Kris Hunter’s side will be looking for a convincing win to lay down an early marker in the title race.
The additions of Ferris and Young will no doubt help in that matter.
Twenty year old Ferries came through the youth ranks at Aberdeen before joining Peterhead.
The midfielder went on to make 17 appearances for The Blue Toon during his spell at Balmoor.
Young was another product of the Aberdeen youth system but from a different era.

The former Scotland Under -21 international was handed the captains arm-band during his last few games at Pittodrie in 2011 before moving to Grindavík in Iceland.
He also had spells with Partick Thistle, St Johnstone, Dunfermline, Morton, Queen of the South and, most recently, Forfar.
The pair have joined former Nairn striker Conor Gethins as Kris Hunter’s new signing this summer.
Gethins, who was announce as United’s first summer acquisition before the start of pre seasons has been making an impression in recent friendlies and it is now up to Young and Ferries to do the same in competitive action.
The duo were unveiled on Monday night alongside the clubs new playing kit for the season.
The kit, manufactured by Erre,a is sure to become a hit with the fans with it’s fashionable and modern design.
The home kit features the club’s traditional red and white stripes, with the away kit now white with a dark blue collar with red and blue flashes across the chest.
Both home and away kits will be available to buy shortly.
The team will have worn the kit in a match for the first time when the faced Inverurie Locos in the Aberdeenshire cup on Wednesday.
