Inverurie Locos got back to winning ways after their shock reversal at Clach, with a 4-1 win against Forres,
And the Harlaw Park side are now in third position thanks to an unlikely brace from captain Neil McLean playing in an unusual advanced position.
Both sides were missing key players but it was Forres who should have seized the initiative when captain Scott Moore missed an open goal from a great position at the back post following good work by Dachi Khutsishvil.
But in 11 minutes it was the home side who went in front when Stuart Knight pushed away a McLean corner but lurking was Dean DONALDSON, his back to goal, swivelling and firing home
Straight from kick off it was 2-0. McLEAN was left in space fully 30 yards out, flighting a left foot screamer round Knight with the goalkeeper left beaten all ends up. It could have been 3-0 when Ross Anderson met a McLean corner on the right with his head, the ball ending in the side net.
The Can Cans started to come more into the game and following a series of corners, Graham Fraser’s header came off the crossbar, then Reid made two vital saves to foil his brother Lee. At the other end McLean had a chance and when the ball broke to John Maitland, his shot was blocked, Marc Young’s deflected rebound going out for a corner.
In 54 minutes Reid kept up his great form, acrobatically diving to his left to turn a net-bound Duncan Jones swerving shot away for a corner.
However he could do nothing in 63 minutes when Craig McGOVERN swerved a free kick with his left foot 25 yards out into Reid’s left corner.
Two minutes later the two goal advantage was restored, BAVIDGE rounding Knight and rolling home with the Forres players protesting for offside.
Into injury time, it was goal number four. Bavidge squared from the right which left a defender off balance. McLEAN cut inside him and fired firmly past Knight.
