Six goals in two games for Maud in league & cup double

Maud JFC showed they have nor problems finsing the back of the net last week in a league and cup double header.

First up on Tuesday night was a home tie against Devronside in the Super league.

The visitors went in front when a through ball split the Maud defence and Wojcik made no mistake with his finish.

Maud drew level when a long throw into the away box was cleared as far as Thomson who calmly stroked the ball home from edge of the ball.

Just on half time Rae gave the visitors the lead again when fired past the diving Flinn.

Maud were forced to replace the injured kirk by Lawson minutes into the second half.

The home side drew level when Downie received the ball and went past his marker and his shot found the bottom corner of the net past the diving Thomson.

Deveronside went in front once more when Wojcik drove past two defenders and calmly shot past Flinn.

With time running out a through ball found Smart who chipped the ball over the keeper but as the ball was cleared off the line Keeper Thomson wiped out Smart and Maud were awarded a penalty.

Still sent the keeper the wrong way to earn Maud a point.

On Saturday, Maud faced Stonehaven in a match where they need to win by 2 goals to go through to the Quarter Finals of the Grill League Cup.

Maud went in front from a corner in the first half when Wilson swung the ball to the back post where Simpson’s header found the net.

Maud doubled their lead from a Reid corner as Simpson rose high to head brilliantly back across goal into the top corner of the net.

Minutes later Stonehaven broke free with Wyness who was played in on goal and he slotted home.

From a corner the ball rebounded to Thomson who saw his shot come back off the bar. Maud hit straight back when till collected the ball on the edge of the box and he turned his marker and slotted the ball round the keeper and into the net.
