Professional wrestling returns to Balmedie next month as the grapplers from local group WrestleZone get ready to rumble.

The action takes place at Balmedie Leisure Centre on Saturday, October 8, and will see local stars Scotty Swift, Johnny Lions and Blue Thunder in bodyslamming combat.

The annual event also marks a milestone for grappler Bryan Tucker who has made a great return to action this year.

At the Balmedie event, the Aberdeen grappler faces Montrose brawler Mikkey Vago in a rematch from recent contests in Banchory and Keith.

Tucker continued: “So far, I’ve gained two wins from two against Mikkey Vago despite him jumping me at the start of these matches.

“Vago is a street fighter but I am okay with that – hit me and I’ll hit you back just as hard.

“In Balmedie, I’m aiming to grab a clean sweep and ensure Vago thinks again about his actions.”

The event marks the third year in a row that WrestleZone have staged an event at Balmedie Leisure Centre, and the fans are in for a treat as the Undisputed Championship will also be defended by current champion Scotty Swift in a match to be announced.

WrestleZone host Martyn Clunes is looking forward to the group’s return to Balmedie and said: “This is a great chance for the fans to see the action up close.

“We will have six great matches featuring some of the best wrestlers in Scotland and there is also the chance to meet them and get pictures and autographs.

“The people of Balmedie and beyond can expect a great night of fun for all the family on October 8 as the wrestlers jockey for supremacy.”

Doors on the night open at 7pm next Saturday with the action underway at 7.30pm. Admission is pay-at- the-door only priced £12 for adults and £10 for under 14s.
