Garioch Amateur Swimming Club’s up and coming squad 2 and 3 swimmers were in great form at the Forres Bluefins Mini Meet on Saturday, (October 11), displaying outstanding technical ability and superior fitness in taking a host of medals despite their small number.
Three of the team won overall best swimmer in their age group: Finlay Cousins in the boys’ 11 year old category, winning four golds and a silver; Matthew Dick in the boys’ 9 year old category, winning three golds and Nicole Ogg in the girls’ 11 year old category, winning three golds, one silver and one bronze.
In addition, of the 15 medals issued in the girls’ 11 year old section, 12 were won by the dominant Garioch swimmers, with Caitlin Dick (two silvers and a bronze), Isla Johnston (one gold, two silvers and a bronze) and Nicole Ogg being in brilliant form. Mikey Smith accompanied Finlay, Isla and Caitlin to relay gold in the medley event. Isla McIntosh swam brilliantly throughout, winning her heats and taking significant times off her PBs in every race.
Coaches Tracy Ogg and Steve Dick were delighted with their swimmers, all of whom did their club proud. Thanks are due to both for their efforts in ensuring high standards during the day; thanks, too to the parent helpers who officiated in time-keeping roles.
