A North-east riding group is on the look-out for volunteers.
Buchan Riding Group for the Disabled (RDA) meets twice weekly during school term time at Ladymire Equestrian Centre, Ellon.
Its clients are young people with various physical and learning disabilities who come with their carers to take part in therapeutic group riding lessons.
Group secretary Juliet Norcott said: “They benefit immensely from the independence and enjoyment the riding experience gives them, gaining confidence and improving their self-esteem.
“Balance, motor-skills, and even speech can often improve as a result of the riding sessions.”
She added: “Typically, our helpers have some knowledge of horses before they start with us, but it is not essential. Because the sessions involve quite a bit walking, it’s also a great way to keep fit. We are always looking out for willing volunteers.”
