AT last, a more settled week and a lot more activity on the fish front at Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery.
Fishing was more active in the top two feet of the water column with dries (small and black) being quite attractive but pride of place this week went to Buzzers, again small and dark coloured which proved very successful when suspended and allowed to drift.
Lures still proved useful and accounted for some good catches.
The recent rainfall has again given a change of water and certainly increased surface activity.
The best catches this week fell to: A. Murray, Gardenstown (22 fish,Bunny Leech); A. West, Fraserburgh (ten fish, Montana); B. Milton, Buckie (nine fish, Buzzers); J. Wilson, Cullen (nine fish, Buzzers); M. Grant, Shropshire (seven fish, Buzzer/Montana); N. Paterson, Turriff (six fish, Buzzer).
The forecast for this week suggests a slight rise in temperature and a lessening in wind velocity and should lead to a good week’s fishing.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8am till 8pm. It offers fly fishing for rainbow trout and blue trout, for both bank fishing and boat fishing.
