The shock of the season in the Ellon Darts League happened last week when Legion “B” went down 6-5 away to Hatton Mill.
The home side made a great start and were leading 5-4 when Bruce Morrison secured a fine victory with his first singles win of the season against Euan Kinghorn. There was some consolation for Legion “B” as Joe Crombie hit a 17 dart leg to make the final score 6-5. The defeat leave a big dent in the Legion “B” quest for the league title although they still have to play league leaders Station “A” twice in matches that now become even more important for the Legion men. Paul Richardson was in fine form for Station “A” hitting a maximum and Neil Welsh (Linsmohr) also hit a 180 in his sides impressive victory against the Kilmarnock Arms. Richardson also had an 18 dart leg and a 130 check-out.
The Station Reds were in fine form defeating Buchan 7-4. Brian Wilson (Reds) hit a 17 dart leg and also had a 100 check-out. The finish of the night came from John Stephen (Reds) who checked out 106 when opponent David Penny was left on Double 16. Penny was 1-0 up at the time and Stephen went on to take the deciding leg to secure a valuable point for the Reds.
