Another busy week for Ythan CC saw riders competing in Dundee, Fordoun and Inverness with mixed results.

Sunday saw the Balgay Park Criterium take place in Dundee where Ythan had Thomas Gelati and Andy Scouller taking part in a fast paced 3rd/4th Category race which was held in challenging conditions as rain made bike handling difficult. Gelati finished 4th after contesting the final sprint whilst Scouller came in 22nd in what had become a race of attrition with many riders pulling out as the conditions worsened.

Youth rider Fraser Gault was also in action and he would take 12th place in the combined Youth U16/U14 race securing 12th overall and 5th U14.

Sunday also saw racing in Aberdeenshire with the Aberdeen Wheelers promoted Neish Trophy 25TT being held on the A90 course at Fordoun. Ythan’s Colin Duncan finished in 13th with a time of 58:01 with Mike Giles 1:03:01, Malcolm Grant 1:04:22 and Carol Middleton 1:11:13 completing the Ythan efforts in similar conditions to their compatriots in Dundee, with rain and a brisk breeze from the coast affecting the course.

Colin Duncan returned to the Highlands last Wednesday to ride the Farr 10TT course only three days after his last visit had seen him secure 3rd overall. His second trip would see him dip under 23 minutes with a time of 22:52 which secured him 6th place and an admirable record of two fast times and two top ten finishes in a matter of days.
