Ellon Rugby Club’s Under 16s won six out of six games at last weekend’s Banff Sevens to take the trophy back to The Meadows.
After a slow start against Turriff where Ellon scraped a 3-2 win the team went from strength to strength with some convincing wins against Moray, Huntly, Aberdeen Wanderers & Banff.
They went on to play Aberdeen Wanderers in the final and won 6-2.
During the competition four of the squad played for Huntly, who were short because of injuries, and helped them to beat Banff.
They were Ross Pedan, Josh Mackenzie, Mark Galloway and Ed Holland.
On Sunday Ellon were the hosts of a S1 and S2 Sevens competition of their own.
Ellon’s S1 team made the final of the competition but finished as runner-up after losing out to Aberdeen Rugby.
The S2 team finished fourth in their competition.
Meanwhile, the senior team’s opposition for next year became slightly clearer with Highland 2s now only needing a win against bottom placed Fraserburgh in Caley 3 to secure promotion.
Shetland beat Lochaber 89-22 at home meaning the fort William side must beat Ross Sutherland to stay up.
